Clinical Psychologist, Pamela Hamer, Psy.D.
  • How do virtual therapy sessions work?

Each week, you will get an email with a link to join the therapy session. Sessions are conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform that you will access on the device of your choice. Check out the About Online Therapy Sessions page.

  • How long are therapy sessions?

    Approximately 50 minutes.

  • What happens during the first session?

Before our first session, I will review the completed intake form that was emailed to you. When we meet, I’ll ask questions to understand more about what you feel is not going well, and to help you identify your goals.

  • How often will I need to do therapy?

Weekly therapy sessions gets clients better results, faster. After you have been consistently making progress toward your goals, we can reevaluate whether shifting to less frequent sessions is sufficient to maintain that progress or to prepare you to graduate from treatment.

  • How long will therapy last?

My goal is always to empower you, not keep you in therapy. That said, every situation is unique. Many clients report feeling relief after just a session or two. (Finally talking about what’s going on feels good!) Deeper change takes longer. Many people make good progress in the first three months and are thinking about ending treatment after about six to eight months.

  • Are sessions covered by my insurance?

The majority of slots are self-pay, and I offer a super bill you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement using out-of-network benefits. I reserve a limited number of slots for clients wishing to use insurance, and accept Aetna, Oxford, United, and Oscar plans. (Please note that I am only able to take insurance for clients residing in Colorado.) Family and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy sessions are self-pay only.

  • What’s your cancellation policy?

24 hours’ notice is required for a cancelled session. If you are unable to provide 24 hours’ notice, you will be charged the full session fee.
