Post-partum depression and anxiety don’t define who you are as a parent.

Now that the baby is here, friends and family remind you how lucky you are, which only makes it harder to acknowledge how disconnected you really feel.

In the past, you were the one other people relied on. Now you wonder how you’ll find the energy to do the simplest tasks. Your partner asks you what’s going on and you don’t know what to say. You constantly worry that your baby will get hurt, that you’re a bad mom, that things will always feel this hard. Sometimes you fantasize about leaving it all behind.

You’re ready for change.

As hard as it feels to ask for help, just hoping it goes away no longer seems like an option. You want to talk to someone who won’t judge you, someone who can help you find joy and ease in your relationship with your baby.

I can help.

I create a safe space where you can take a much-needed break from caring for others and focus on your own healing. Together we explore honest thoughts and feelings with compassion. I will help you see that postpartum depression (PPD) and anxiety are experiences you are having, not who you are.  At times I integrate mindfulness techniques to help you reconnect to your body and learn techniques to decrease emotional pain. And while I always take your healing seriously, a little humor can make the process less intimidating.

Effective therapy for PPD is not one-size-fits-all. Many variables contribute to PPD besides hormonal changes—a stressful labor and delivery, previous episodes of depression and/or anxiety, and even a history of trauma. My training, which includes a postdoctoral specialization in infant mental health, experience with attachment- and trauma-informed interventions, and clinical assessment, will allow me to untangle the threads of your unique experience and get you on the road to recovery.
